You will:

Personal Social Development Lead

Occupational Therapist - Band 6

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work within a developing therapy service at Pield Heath House School. We are a non-maintained school for children and young people between the ages of 7 and 19 years, with moderate to severe complex learning needs and associated speech, language and communication difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This is an exciting opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of our children, young people and their families.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team and wider school team. You will manage a caseload and will contribute to the assessment and delivery of occupational therapy services to support students’ functional skills and sensory needs.  

The successful candidate will be experienced in conducting assessments, writing reports, delivering one to one therapy sessions, as well as small group therapy and class-based interventions. The Occupational Therapist will work in collaboration with teaching staff and Speech and Language Therapists to deliver holistic multidisciplinary working practices.

The Therapy Team is committed to embedding clinical interventions across all aspects of our students' home and school routines, ensuring that our students are able to access their learning effectively. We are looking for a motivated, flexible and innovative Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy department. The successful candidate will work with colleagues to promote the holistic development of independence and functional skills informed by the latest evidence-based practices and will be accountable for delivering a quality service. Our streams of provision focus on interventions that support difficulties with feeding, speech, language, social communication and developing Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) at universal, targeted and specialist levels.

Our streams of provision focus on interventions that support difficulties with feeding, speech, language, social communication and developing Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) at universal, targeted and specialist levels. 

The Pield Heath Speech and Language Therapy department is a friendly, motivated team who strive to provide high quality therapy.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.
  • An ability to work closely with therapists from other disciplines in order to integrate SaLT goals into the educational setting.
  • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning and implementation of therapy programmes.
  • An independent approach and be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of standardised assessment and clinical observation.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.

This role is an opportunity to develop as a clinician while gaining experience in an educational setting, as we offer excellent support through clinical supervision, a commitment to CPD and a variety of training opportunities. Our team is dedicated in forging a unique collaborative approach to special education by embedding the expertise of the speech and language therapy profession in a meaningful way that does not compromise the quality of the service. You will work closely with teaching staff, helping to integrate therapy and learning objectives, as well as instructing and supporting teaching staff in delivering therapy programmes/groups and use of specialised equipment.

The Therapy Team is committed to embedding clinical interventions across all aspects of our students’ home and school routines, ensuring that our students are able to access their learning effectively. The successful candidate will receive support and clinical supervision from the Clinical Lead for Therapies.
