Rooted in Love Programe
For Catholic Social Teaching at Pield Heath we embrace the Rooted in Love programme developed by Caritas, Westminster. This programme provides a powerful framework to help pupils connect Gospel values with action in their daily lives and supports our mission of caring for others, respecting every individual, using our talents, doing our best and helping to build a better world.
The Rooted in Love Approach
Each half term our school focuses on one of the six principles of Catholic Social Teaching: (CST)
Autumn 1: Care for Creation
Autumn 2: Preferential Option for the Poor
Spring 1: Solidarity and Peace
Spring 2: Community and Participation
Summer 1: Dignity of Workers
Summer 2: Human Dignity
There is ongoing formation for the whole school pupils as well as staff so that they can understand what we mean by Catholic Social Teaching as it is important that everyone has an awareness.
At the start of each half term, the principle is introduced in assemblies. Every tutor group is invited to give examples of how they have highlighted the principle. At the end of the half term there is a follow-up assembly which brings the whole community back together to celebrate the principle.
