Geography aims to enable students to make better sense of their world, particularly an awareness of their personal surroundings and local environment. We encourage the study of people, places and activities that are relevant to the lives of students. Through this we hope that students will gain an understanding of their relationship with the environment and their place within it. Students are encouraged to assess evidence, negotiate, make decisions, solve problems, work independently and in groups, and learn from each other.
The Geography curriculum is delivered through the areas of:
- Geographical enquiry
- Fieldwork and out-of-class learning
- Graphicacy and visual literacy
- Geographical communication
The teaching of these areas of Geography is approached in a practical and interactive manner and makes full use of ICT, group work, role play, excursions, case studies and simulation.
