Key Stages 2, 3 and 4
A comprehensive programme based on the National Curriculum is offered at Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 with small class groups and a high level of staff support.
Key Stage 2 & 3
Education programmes at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 are supported with a multi disciplinary approach, delivered discreetly as well as permeating across the curriculum through a high level of direct and indirect therapeutic input.
Each student follows the National Curriculum at a differentiated level appropriate to their individual abilities and needs. At Key Stage 2 this includes daily literacy and a strong emphasis on the development of play and social skills through adult and child led activities. Development of communication and language is incorporated into every lesson and students are given the opportunity to develop their verbal communication or use Augmentative means e.g. PECs and visuals.
Key Stage 2 classes have access to a designated outdoor learning area.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 the curriculum is structured to promote opportunities for students to learn and progress academically, with increased opportunities to develop personally, socially and independently in preparation for adult life.
The curriculum is designed to further promote functional skills in literacy, numeracy and ICT, and programmes which enable the development of personal, social and independence skills.
Students are offered a range of ASDAN accredited options which include: Textiles, Environmental Studies, Expressive Arts, Daily Living Skills, Mini Enterprise.
All students also participate in work related learning experiences.
