Textiles

Textiles develop a range of creative, technical and practical skills which students might need to perform in many everyday tasks.

Students are taught the technical skills needed to engage correctly and safely using the equipment needed for the various projects. Students learn about the different fabrics available and will be introduced to the process of design and making and evaluating household items that could be made from new and recycled fabrics, yarns and fibres.

Making bunting for the horticulture room. Using scrap calico fabric, students used the die cutting machine to cut the leaf shapes and the bunting. The leaves were then sewn together using the sewing machine.
