History aims to develop both the learners chronological understanding and their understanding of people, events, structures, belief systems and politics within societies in the past. Through this we hope to enable students to develop a greater awareness of their own existence by using topics both new and familiar to provide an interesting framework. History provides a range of experiences and achievements, which contributes to the richness of students` lives according to individual needs and abilities.
The History curriculum is delivered through the areas of:
- Historical enquiry
- Using evidence
- Communicating about the past
The teaching of areas of history is approached in a practical, interactive and experiential manner and makes full use of ICT, group work, role play, excursions, case studies and simulation.
