Numeracy

At Key Stage 5 the curriculum focuses on the specific needs of individuals for their post school life. Students are taught in ability groups. White Rose Maths is continued into KS5 but also focuses on the practical aspects of using and applying mathematics to enhance independent living skills, students work towards Functional Skill Maths Qualifications. Students within KS5 run the School’s Café called The Well and the Garden Shop throughout the year to work on life skills in a working environment. Students also develop their Maths Skills that they have learnt in their specified Maths lesson within their NOCN options such as Cooking, Construction, Home Management and Horticulture.

Accreditation and exams:

KS5 — NOCN Modules and NCFE Functional Numeracy Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3

KS5 — NCFE Functional Skills Entry Level levels 1,2,3 to Level 3.

Enrichment Opportunities

Throughout the school year students are able to partake in a variety of enrichment activities. Students are able to visit the School’s Café and Garden Shop to develop real life money exchange.

Students also participate in various Charity Events including Walk for Water, Children in Need and Macmillan Coffee Morning. Students also access the Local Community using public transport, developing skills such as checking transport timetables, topping up their Oyster Cards and shopping.
